Sunday evening - 10.45
Novembega [??]
Darling, before I go to bed I
must have a word with
you. I am just hungry to
see you tonight- It was
so tantalizing to have a
glance only of you this
afternoon - not a word, ex-
cept a perfunctory “how do
you do?” and “Good-bye-” when
I wished to take you with
my arms and kiss you!- Did
you know it, Dearest, could
you feel that I wanted
you so that the light
served to go out of the room
when you went?
[2]
Tell me that you did, my
own Jean, that you under-
stood although we could not
say one word to each
other - What shall I say
to you, Dearest, when the
room is full of people? It
seems so perfectly absurd
to say that I am “glad to
see you” - “Glad”? The very
semblance itself comes in with
you and goes, when you go -
and my heart beats as if
it were going to jump out
of its normal place - I
can hardly wait until
Tuesday my Darling, my
Darling - I am lonely for you
[3]
tonight - Are you thinking of
me and wishing to see me,
Sweet-heart? If I might
see you only for a moment
tomorrow - I should be
so glad.
I aim to see Sally at
eleven. Pray for me, that
I may say the right
thing, Dearest -
Good night, my Darling, my
own little Sister - If only
I might hear you say that
you love me.
Your own May
